Vrchlabí is a picturesque mountain town of nearly 13,000 inhabitants, extending in the upper valley of the river Elbe. It is an ideal starting point to the highest Czech mountains and rightly called the gateway to the mountains. Offers numerous ski, hiking and biking opportunities, as well as a number of interesting historical sites.
Worth seeing is the Renaissance castle from the 16th century burgher houses with arcades shield, or Augustinian monastery from the 18th century. In the monastery, and in three historic houses in the square today is an exhibition of the museum with many historical and natural history collections. City Vrchlabí also caters to sports lovers. Here you will find an ice rink, squash, tennis and volleyball courts, athletic stadium, artificial climbing wall and sports center. Sports activities are also found in Spindleruv Mlyn 14 km away, where you can visit aqvapark, rope park, bobsleigh, a large number of ski slopes and trails.
